Hive Syncing Checklist
Introduction
One of the best features of Hive media engines is the ability for multiple units to be able
to sync together really easily to form a larger Canvas
accross multiple displays or
projectors.
Setting up Sync on a Hive device is normally really easy, you normally only need to do step 1 in the list below and then it is done, however if the settings on the devices have been changed since the factory default then sometimes it can be a bit confusing finding out why a group of systems won’t sync, this guide should help you get it working.
The Checklist
When setting up sync we set one device to be a queen and the other devices to be workers, it is possible to have multiple queen worker groups on the same network, but the checklist below only applies to devices in the same group.
- On the adjust page of each device check that only 1 unit has it’s BeeType set to
Queen
and all other devices are set toWorker
- On the adjust page, in the
Queens IP Address
setting, make sure it saysAUTO
or it has the IP of the queen device (the unit that has Bee Type set to queen) - Check that the value in the
Artnet Universe
is the same on all the devices , queen and workers - Check that
Lighting Desk Mode
is disabled - On each device on the adjust page, click the configure button on the
Bee Sync Settings
section and make sure that they are all set to Auto - Make sure that the video output settings on all devices are the same - all devices need to be connected to identical displays for sync to work correctly
- Make sure that the media on all the devices is exactky the same with the same files at the same indexes, otherwise you will get unexpected results
Once all the above has been checked, restart all the devices and you should be synced correctly, selecting a media file on the queen device should select the same file on all the workers and keep them in frame accurate sync.
