Using the Hive Adobe Media Encoder Presets
Importing the Presets
- Extract
Hive Adobe Media Encoder Presets.zip
to a convenient location on your computer. - Open Adobe Media Encoder
- Goto the Preset browser window (it is normally bottom left, but if it is not there, click
on the
Window
menu option at the top and make sure that it has a tick next to it) - In the Preset Browser, click the
Add Folder
icon, and type inHive Media Presets
as the name of the folder. - Select the folder you just created.
- Right click the folder and select
Import Presets
from the sub menu - Navigate to the presets that you have downloaded / extracted. They will be named
Hive_HEVC_100MBs
or similar. - Select all the presets in the folder.
- Press
Open
- All presets will be imported and added into your new folder.
Using The Presets
The presets can be applied to a single file or to a batch of files when encoding, simply
add your file or files by dragging them into the queue window.
For each file select the appropriate preset from the Preset
column dropdown boxes.
There is no hard and fast rule as to which preset to use, it depends on the complexity of the video that you encoding (complexity is really how much movement / change is there on each frame, a pretty static video is not complex but a video of race cars flying past would be considered complex).
Use the following as a guide, but in general the higher bitrate the better the quality but the longer it takes to encode and the heavier it is on the player. If possible, test with an example file first to see which option is best. Higher framerate also needs a higher bitrate.
HD Resolution 50Mbs,100Mbs or 200Mbs
4K or UHD Resolution 200Mbs,300Mbs or 500Mbs
8K Resolution 300Mbs,500Mbs or 800Mbs
